Chapters that follow describe the early dogs and kennels that have had the most significant impact in South Africa and laid the foundation of the breed, leading on to more recent and current kennels.
Sections are devoted to regional reviews of the Labrador Retriever in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
The historical tie of breeders to the SA Guide Dogs Association (SAGA) and their importance in the development of bloodlines both as Labrador Retriever service dogs and establishing the breed in South Africa.
