Caroline Bliss-Isberg has spent countless hours researching, interviewing and documenting to produce what is by far the most comprehensive collection of Leonberger facts and history every assembled. With great affection for this imposing but affable breed, Bliss-Isberg explains how the Leonberger managed to outwit a hostile dog 19th-Century fancy, made invaluable (and little known) contributions to the Saint Bernard and Newfoundland, survived two world wars, and now faces unique challenges in the 21st Century. Filled with historical photos and illustrations, some of them never before published, this book is an absolute must for anyone interested in this endearing German breed.
